Eventually, in October 1992, the setting of Singapore Discovery Center (SDC) was approved and a budget of $70 million was set aside for the same. SDC was officially opened on 23rd November 1996. Since then, the center has been redeveloped many times to suit changing needs, and to make it more entertaining.

The Gateway at Singapore Discovery Center uses the elements of fire, earth and wind to present the turbulent part of Singapore in a user-friendly manner, in the style of ultramodern television shows.

The Singapore Discovery Center is open all days of the week except Mondays. From Tuesday to Sunday, the visiting hours are 9 am to 6 pm, while on Saturdays, the center is open till 8 pm. The basic entry fee is SGD 10 for adults and SGD 6 for kids. Admission fee is separate for each adventure undertaken.

The Singapore Discovery Center is located at Upper Jurong Road and is about 30 minutes from the city center.
